Exactly 3 Years Today In Burkina Faso!

🇧🇫 Exactly 3 Years Today : 30 Sept 2022 - 30 Sept 2025, this marks exactly 3 years when Captain Ibrahim Traoré and his men announced on national Television that they had taken over power. It was the most joyful moment for many Burkinabè since the time of Thomas Sankara.
The power takeover by Captain TraorĂ© happened through a bloodless coup which nobody got killed. The population received the change with great enthusiasm, despite the looming threat of a violent confrontation between TraorĂ©’s men who were mostly captains and the Special Forces unit of the Burkinabè army, composed mainly of colonels and lieutenant colonels loyal to then-president Lieutenant Colonel Paul Henry Damiba.
Traoré and his heavily armed men advanced from a military base located about 100 kilometers from the capital. Once in Ouagadougou, they launched a manhunt for Damiba, who was being protected by the elite Special Forces. Gunfire erupted across parts of the city. At the height of this tense standoff, a high-level delegation of elders, religious leaders, and traditional chiefs intervened.
They met with leaders from both sides and brokered an agreement under which Damiba agreed to step down in order to prevent bloodshed. He requested safe passage out of the country and subsequently left for Togo with a few loyal men. From there, he became a masterminded of several attempted coups against Traoré.

👉 Why TraorĂ© removed Damiba: TraorĂ© and Damiba were once allies. Together, they staged the January 2022 coup that ousted civilian president Roch Marc KaborĂ©, one of the right arms of former president Blaise CompaorĂ©. KaborĂ© had risen to power after CompaorĂ©’s fall in 2015. During his time terr0rism started in Burkina Faso. His presidency was marked by poor governance, and a continuation of many of CompaorĂ©’s policies. He was also the man of Fr4nce.
After KaborĂ©’s removal, Damiba was expected to pursue a radically different path, as he had promised TraorĂ©. Instead, he failed to keep his word. He too aligned himself closely with France and even traveled to CĂ´te d’Ivoire, where he was welcomed as a hero for being the man of France. TraorĂ© said, "this ain'tright". So, one afternoon, he mobilized his men and marched on Ouagadougou. That was how Damiba’s chapter in Burkina Faso’s history came to an end.
👉 TraorĂ©’s actions after taking power: Upon consolidating power, Captain TraorĂ© shut down all French military bases in Burkina Faso as theybwere Trojan horses that covertly supported a d armed terr0rist groups and weakened the national army. He expelled all French “military advisors” who were emoied in all strategic state institutions. He revoked all the colonial-era military pacts binding Burkina Faso to Fr4nce. He implemented numerous other measures to ensure that Fr4nce no longer exercised control over the country.
As a result, TraorĂ© became the number one enemy of Fr4nce and its most loyal ally in Africa, CĂ´te d’Ivoire of Alhassane Ouattara! Since then, the duo, Fr4nce &CĂ´te d'Ivoire never stopped plotting to take down Captain Traore through coups and terr0rist att@cks. They gave orders to the terr0rist group (that Fr4nce had created) to intensify att@cks in Burkina to have the population revolt against Traore. But both strategies didn't work. They had sweared to removed TraorĂ© in a few months and restore the Fr£nch influence in the country! Their plots continue and so as the resilience of the people of Burkina Faso.amd it's leader Captain IB 🇧🇫 đź’Ş ✊️
